Food and Farmers

Food!

The word generally makes our mouth watery., oh! what’s cooking in the kitchen is the usual thing we ask anyone in the house after we return from a tiring day. Any food prepared by our mothers takes us to heaven and makes to forget the entire day stress. but nowadays busy life living far from home town in search of our passion etc makes us far from the home food., but we crave for it.

But where does all the food come from?

Before eating thank a farmer if his 5 fingers go into the soil then only our 5 fingers go into mouth for eating the food. being an agriculture family member i know the importance of food, the hard work our family does from planting to harvesting, to make successful crop. sometimes natural calamities effect the crop all the hard work done goes into vain, nothing is useful, if everything goes good its fine thank god and be happy, but the obstacles faced in between are speechless the work, the cost of labor etc everything are high but the fate of the farmer is still the same the same brokerage system the same price for the crop no increase in the price throughout years every one who do work are salaried except a farmer, also then he will not expect it always his thoughts will be revolving around how to save the crop taking care of family etc.,

The word in English Says Agriculture AGRI”CULTURE” the culture to be learned by everyone and to be respected by everyone.

The word in Telugu says “VYAVASAYAM” the name itself says SAYAM which means help., the farmer is helping us inorder to have food by working hard without any holidays.

The Happy Crop

The Crop Damaged due to heavy rainfall

The Crop Damaged due to fire

Think about a farmer before wasting food., about the hardwork he does in order to make a successful crop.

THE PROCESS OF AGRICULTURE

The procedure consists of several phases like

1)watering the soil

2)ploughing thoroughly throughout the land

3)resting the soil

4)sowing the seeds

5)applying fertilizers/pesticides

6)removing the weeds

7)stopping the water supply

8)harvesting

1)Watering the soil

this is the first step in agriculture the entire land is watered until the level decided the water should be enough that the soil should be watery and should ensure that the water does not flow out.

2)Ploughing thoroughly throughout the land

ploughing can be done either using bulls or using tractors using anyways the ploughing should be done more than 3 times such that the used soil goes inside and the fresh soil comes up

3)Resting the soil

The soil should be rested for some 4-5 days such that it fertilizes itself by decomposing

4)Sowing the seeds

this process is done at the first because the seeds take some time growing into saplings such that they can be planted again this process usually takes 21-25 days for replanting

after plucking the saplings then they are planted into the soil

5)Applying fertilizers/pesticides

the fertilizers either natural or artificial ones are applied to the farm on the day they are planted and from  then they are applied again after 45 days of planting

in between if any insects attack the field then the pesticides according to them are applied to the crop

6)removing the weeds

after 30 days of planting the crop if any weeds are present in the crop they are removed this process is done manually

7)stopping the water supply

when the seeds start appearing on the crop the farmer stops the water supply and lets the crop to dry so that the grains will also dry

8)harvesting

when the seeds are fully formed the farmer harvests the crop this is done either manually or by machine

after all this process the seeds are gathered at one place and they are dried if they are some what wet otherwise they are transported to the market or local rice mills for selling then they make rice

this entire procedure takes nearly 3-4 months this is entirely based on the farmers hardwork this process nearly takes 2 lakhs of investment to 10 acres of land and the profit is based on our luck if any natural calamities are not effected then the farmer is happy,

remember the hardwork of a farmer before wating food
